Elizabeth "Betty" Hovet

June 27, 1910 ~ October 28, 2017 (age 107)

Elizabeth “Betty” Hovet, 107 year old resident of Little Falls, MN, passed away on October 28, 2017 at St. Otto’s Care Center in Little Falls, MN.  A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at First Lutheran Church in Little Falls, MN, with Pastor Jake Dyrhaug officiating.  Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service, also at the church. Burial will be at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery North of Little Falls.

Betty had a long and very full life.  She was born on June 27, 1910, in Day County, South Dakota to Christ & Jenny Weyer.  On September 22, 1930, Betty was united in marriage to Kenard “Ken” Hovet at Breckenridge, MN.  Ken worked for a newspaper there and Betty worked in a restaurant where Ken often ate meals.  In 1931, Ken and Betty purchased the Little Falls Printing Company located in downtown Little Falls on First Street Northeast.  They owned and operated the business from 1931 to 1972.  From 1943 to 1945, the printing business was kept in operation by Betty while Ken served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.  After retiring in 1972, they spent summers at Lake Alexander and winters in Harlingen, Texas. Betty enjoyed playing cards, quilting at her church, and doing crafts.  She volunteered in same day service for several years at St. Gabriel’s Hospital.  Most recently she enjoyed recycling cards for the hospital.  Betty was a member of the VFW, the Legion Auxiliary, and a longtime member of First Lutheran Church.  She always enjoyed being with her many friends and family.  She was a great mom, grandma, and great-grandma.  She will be dearly missed by all.  A special thank you to Mona who played a game a Skip-Bo with Betty every evening for many years, and also to St. Otto’s Care Center for the excellent care in which they provided.

Survivors include her daughter, Doris Miller of Little Falls; sister, Christine Chock of Little Falls; grandson, Kent (Jodi) Miller of Half Moon Bay, CA; granddaughter, Jayne (Doug) Biehn of Piedmont, CA; seven great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and many great friends.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ken in 1992; son-in-law, Mark Miller of Little Falls; sister, Martina Mondry and husband, Len of Seattle, WA; and brother-in-law, Bernard Chock of Little Falls.
