Eileen LaRue (Wrede) Olson

April 28, 1925 ~ June 1, 2018 (age 93)

Eileen L. Olson, age 93, of Little Falls, MN, passed away on Friday, June 1, 2018 at Highland Senior Living in Little Falls. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, June 7 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Little Falls, MN, with Father Joseph Herzing officiating.

Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, June 6 and from 9:30-10:30 A.M. on Thursday, June 7 at Emblom Brenny Funeral Service in Little Falls.

Eileen LaRue Wrede was born on April 28, 1925, in Staples, Minnesota the daughter of Anselm J. & Julie L. (Nelson) Wrede.  She grew up in Staples where she attended school and graduated from Staples High School with the Class of 1943.  Following her schooling, she worked as a secretary for three years for a lawyer, K.C. Calehan, in Staples.  On August 13, 1946, Eileen was united in marriage to Wilton Ploof at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Staples, MN.  The couple made their home in Little Falls where they were blessed with three children, Jim, John, and Mary.  Wilton died in 1971 and on November 4, 1972, Eileen was united in marriage to Clayton Olson at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Little Falls.  Eileen was honored to become the mother figure to Clayton’s children, Melanie, Michelle, Maura, Mark and Michael. Her time spent with her family at the cabin was always a special time for Eileen.  Her family remembers her delicious Carmel rolls and fudge, she was a wonderful baker and cook.  She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Little Falls and the Christian Mothers. Eileen will be remembered for her giving heart, unselfish love, her humble caring ways and her sweet smile.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Jim (Carolyn) Ploof of Sauk Centre, Mary Gaffke of Little Falls, Melanie (Brian) Gaffke of Sauk Rapids, Michelle (Steve) Backowski of Little Falls, Maura Olson of Nashua, Mark Olson of Little Falls and Michael (Michelle) Olson of Little Falls; daughter-in-law, Patti Ploof of Little Falls; sister, Theresa Johnson of St. Joseph; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Eileen was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Wilton Ploof; second husband, Clayton Olson; son, John Ploof (10/19/2014); sisters, Veronica Nelson, Bernice Ferris, and Juleen Bush and a brother, Leonard Wrede.
