Marie Howard, 91 year old resident of Hillman, MN died on Tuesday, May 2 at St. Gabriel’s Hospital in Little Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 5 at 11:00 at St. Rita’s Catholic Church in Hillman. A visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 P.M. on Friday. May 4 and from 9:30-11:00 A.M. on Saturday at the church in Hillman.
Marie E. Bleichner was born on July 8, 1926 in Hillman, Minnesota to the late George and Apolonia (Gast) Bleichner. She grew up and attended school in the Hillman area. She worked various jobs in the area: Larson Boats, Pierz Villa and as a nurse’s assistant at the Onamia Nursing Home. She was united in marriage to Reinhard “Pops” Brausen. The couple later divorced. Marie moved to Ukiah, OR for a few years. She was united in marriage to Delwin Howard on December 3, 1977. The couple moved to Minnesota in 1986 and returned to Hillman, MN. She was a very active member of St. Rita’s Catholic Church in Hillman. She participated in many church fund raisers and functions. She was a member of the Christian Mother’s and praying the rosary daily was a priority. Marie enjoyed crocheting, reading, crafting, quilting, scrapbooking, being around the family especially the grandchildren. She treasured Christmas’s spent with her family and playing games.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Rosie (Ronald) Ross of AZ, Bonnie Eastman of Webster, WI, Lynn (Lyle) Rahn of Pillager, Lori (Keith) Gohl of Pierz, Cathie (Stephen Cameron) of Pierz, Mary (Tim) Thomas of Pierz, George (Karen) Brausen of Madisonville, TN, Tom (Cindy Christensen) of St. Stephen; sisters, Elizabeth Block of Hillman and Delores Iverson of Princeton; sisters-in-law, Marion Bleichner and Shirley Bleichner; brother-in-law, Marvin Hayes of Pierz; 27 grandchildren, 64 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Reinhard “Pops” Brausen; second husband, Delwin Howard; sons, Robert Brausen, Reiny Brausen; sons-in-law, Kenny Osborne, Arthur Eastman and Donald Tembreull.
