Allen Peter Weiss

August 26, 1970 — September 7, 2024

Little Falls

Allen P. Weiss, 54, of Little Falls, passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at St. Cloud Hospital.

A time for visitation will take place from 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at Emblom Brenny Funeral Service in Little Falls. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 1:00 p.m. at St. John's Nepomuk Catholic Church in Lastrup with Father Aaron Nett officiating. Interment will follow at St. John's Catholic Cemetery.

Allen was born on August 26, 1970, in St. Paul, MN, to Leon and Joyce (Gangl) Weiss. After graduating from Pierz High School in 1987, he attended landscaping school in Brainerd. Allen married Shelly Ziemer in 1989, and the two set up home near Fairmont on a hobby farm known as the “white house “with large acres of wildlife land. There, the two started their family and to their union they were blessed with five children: Coty, Carissa, Cassandra, Callie, and Cierra. Allen spent time working as a kitchen manager at Perkins followed by being the grain manager at WFS in Welcome, MN. He loved taking his kids cruising through the land around their property teaching them about the wildlife.

After divorcing, Allen met the love of his life, Jane VanDeWiele, at a social event. He began a power washing company and worked until the couple moved to Little Falls in 2003. Allen found work first at IWCO and then Larson Boat Works. On June 9, 2007, Allen and Jane were wed. After Larson closed its doors, Allen began volunteering at St. Gabriel’s Hospital until he was employed in the environmental services, a position he held for five years until his health made it difficult for him to work.

An amazing friend, father, and husband, Allen made sure his kids and grandchildren were his number one priority in life. He was known to go above and beyond, often giving the shirt off his back to those in need. He was always there when his children needed to talk and was considered to be his son’s best friend. Allen thought the world of his kids and grandkids and was very proud of them all. He will be greatly missed every year on their trips “up north.”

Allen said opening day of deer hunting was a national holiday and celebrated it as such. He was an avid deer hunter and especially enjoyed hunting trips with his dad, son, and eventually, his daughters. Allen was very outdoorsy-fishing, four-wheeling, and riding snowmobiles were his passions. He also loved traditions, especially those surrounding Christmas, such as meals and adorning the tree with special ornaments for his kids.

Left to cherish the memory of Allen is his wife of 17 years, Jane; his children: Coty (Brittany) Weiss, Carissa (Robert) Maday, Cassandra (Michael) Christians, Callie (Bradley Zehms) Weiss, and Cierra Weiss; his grandchildren: Bentley, Jaelyn, Breklyn, Axton, Owen, Brayden, Lincoln, Ethan, Jacob, Myla, Hazel, Landen, and Léo; his mother, Joyce Weiss; his siblings: LeAnn (Chris) Latvaaho, Amy (James Paschelke) Mattison, Kevin (Tara) Weiss, and Mike (Katie) Weiss; and his nieces and nephews.

Allen was preceded in death by his father, Leon Weiss.
