Bernadette Ann Stangl

Bernadette A. Stangl, 73 year old resident of Pierz, MN passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at her residence.

A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at Fellowship Bible Church in Genola, MN. A visitation will be 4-9 PM on Friday, September 2 at the Emblom Brenny Funeral Service in Pierz, MN, with a prayer service at 7 PM. The visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

Bernadette was born on February 19, 1943 to Thomas and Mary (Andres) Evans, on the family farm outside of Flensburg, MN along with her twin brother, Bernard. She was the sixth of eight children. Upon graduation from high school, Bernadette attended and graduated from St. Cloud Beauty College. She was united in marriage to Daniel Stangl on October 11, 1965 in Flensburg. She was the business proprietor of the Pierz Golf Course Clubhouse for over 20 years. Bernadette was elected to the position of City Clerk for the city of Pierz for 3 terms, and was the secretary for over 20 years. She held multiple positions at the Grand Casino Mille Lacs, and also worked as a secretary at the newly established WYRQ radio station. Bernadettes hobbies included flower gardening, especially African Violets and lilies. She was a 32 year member of the Oktoberfest planning committee. Bernadette volunteered at the Eastern Morrison County Food Shelf for 10 years, serving as director for an additional 6 years.

Bernadette is survived by her loving husband, Daniel Stangl of Pierz, MN; sons, Thomas Stangl of Redondo Beach, CA, Mark (Tarra) Stangl of Cedar Rapids, IA; brothers, Jerry Evans of Minneapolis, MN, Bernard (Nancy) Evans of St. Joseph, MN; sisters, Loretta Wippler of Randall, MN, Carol (Gene) Hoelscher of Osseo, MN; grandchildren, Marissa, Morgan, Hannah, and Lauren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Mary Evans; siblings, Phyllis Terway, LaVerne Biermaier, and Thomas Dick Evans.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Pierz Area Food Shelf.
