Brother Theodore Joseph Kappel

Brother Theodore Kappel, OSC, age 73, Canon Regular at the Crosier Priory of the Holy Cross in Onamia, MN passed away Friday, December 21, 2007 at the St. Cloud Hospitalof kidney sepsis. A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, December 27, 2007, at 1:00 P.M. at the Crosier Priory in Onamia with Crosier Prior Father Kermit Holl, OSC, presiding. Interment will be in the Crosier Priory Cemetery in Onamia, MN. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. a" 1:00 P.M. Thursday at the Crosier Priory in Onamia. Brother Theodore Gilbert) Kappel OSC, was born February 5, 1934 in Winsted, MN to late Alfred & Isabelle (LaMothe) Kappel. He attended Holy Trinity Schools and Crosier Seminary Junior College. Br. Ted joined the Crosier Novitiate in 1957 and professed first vows in 1958. He was stationed at Crosier Priories in Hasting, NE, Fort Wayne, IN and Onamia, MN. He served the community through his fraternal care, his constancy at common prayer and his work in house maintenance and facility upkeep. Br. Ted was a consistent, generous and good confrere who served Crosier religious life and the church through his simplicity and dedication. Br. Ted was a life long sports fan of the Crosier Knights of Crosier Seminary at Onamia and of all Minnesota professional teams, especially the Minnesota Twins. Brother Ted is survived by his Crosier confreres and three brothers, Francis Kappel & wife, Carol, Marvin Kappel & wife, Glorian and Gervase Kappel & wife, Donna; brother-in-law, John Schweiger and many nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Deloris Schweiger. Memorial are preferred to the Crosier Fathers and Brothers, P.O. Box 500, Onamia, Mn 56359-0500.
