Calvin A. Brown Calvin A. Brown, age 75 of Hillman, MN passed away Friday at the Mille Lacs Hospital in Onamia, MN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, September 19, 2006, at 10:30 A.M. at St. Rita's Catholic Church in Hillman with Father Greg Poser, officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Monday at the Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service Chapel in Pierz, MN and Tuesday from 9:30-10:30 A.M. at St. Rita's Church Hall in Hillman. Christian Mothers will pray a rosary at 6:30 Monday evening at the funeral chapel followed by parish prayers at 7:00 P.M. Arrangements are with the Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service in Pierz, MN. Calvin was born September 15, 1931 in Lee Township, near Hillman in Morrison County, MN to Willard Brown and the late Lyla R. (Miers) Brown. He grew up in the Hillman area and attended school in Dist #151. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was united in marriage to Rita M. Zidich on May 28, 1955 in Hibbing, MN. Calvin worked for E.J. Longyear Drilling Co. and Larson Boat Industries retiring in 1995. He was a member of St. Rita's Catholic Church in Hillman. Calvin enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, picking berries, harvesting wild rice and almost anything that had to do with the outdoors and gardening. Calvin is survived by his wife, Rita; sons & daughter, Doug Brown & wife, Julie, Brad Brown & wife, Kathy, Doreen McCann & husband, Glenn, David Brown & significant other, Melissa Marty, all of Hillman and Steve Brown & wife, Tamara, of Waukon, MN; father, Willard Brown, of Hillman, MN; brothers, Clifford Brown & wife, Ruby, of Hibbing, MN, Wesley Brown & wife, Clara, of Yerington, NV, John Brown & significant other, Myra Roger, of Spanaway, WA; sisters, Marion Seelen of Pierz, MN and Shirley Hust & husband, Floyd, of Weiser, ID; 15 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Stewart; mother, Lyla Brown; grandson, Brandon Brown and great-granddaughter, Aliah Keehr.
