Clarice Sobania

Clarice Sobania, 84-year-old resident of Little Falls passed away on Monday, June 19, at St. Otto’s Care Center in Little Falls. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 27, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in North Prairie. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. The burial will be at a later date at the Minnesota State Veteran’s Cemetery in Little Falls.

Clarice was born on the family farm on January 11, 1939, in Vermillion, MN, the daughter of Louis and Catherine (Kaiser) Girgen. Clarice attended elementary school in Vermillion and graduated from Hastings High School. She met Steve Sobania at her sister’s farm, and they married on August 16, 1958. Clarice and Steve were married for over 63 years. Clarice was a baker for the most of her life; she worked in the bakery of Sanitary Bakery, Green’s Red Owl, and St. Francis Convent. She also worked for Munsingwear on the west side of Little Falls. She worked for Treasure City in Royalton for a short time when she retired.

Clarice loved gardening and spending time in her flower beds. She enjoyed driving through the country seeing old places and new, and trips to the casino. She liked to read and play cards, paint little figurines, and spend time with her family. She especially enjoyed time with her grandkids and grand-pets.

Clarice is survived by her husband Steve of Royalton; children: Laura Sobania, Linda Larson, Charlie Sobania, Leann (Lisa) Sobania; daughter-in-law, Nettie Sobania; 7 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Kathy Goers and brother, Norbert (Dorothy) Girgen.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sons, John Sobania, Matthew Sobania; sisters, Rita Kaiser, Mary Johnson, Maxine Dohman; son-in-law, Russell Gronau; brothers-in-law, Ron Dohman and Hank Goers.
