Daniel P. Lund, age 91 of Sobieski, MN passed away Thursday, December 7, 2006 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Saginaw, MI. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, December 12, 2006 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Sobieski, MN with the Rev. Leo Moenkedick officiating. Interment will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery north of Little Falls, MN. Friends may call from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Monday and Tuesday from 8:00 A.M.-10:00 A.M. Tuesday at the Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service (West Chapel) in Little Falls, MN Parish Prayers will be said at 6:00 P.M. Monday evening at the Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service (West Chapel) in Little Falls. Military Rites will be conducted by Little Falls V. F. W. Post #1112. Daniel Paul Lund was born January 26, 1915 in Crookston, Polk County, MN to the late Christ N. & Mary M. (Oldakowski) Lund. As a young boy his family lived in Crookston. When Daniel was four years old, his family moved to Swan River Township, Morrison County, MN, southwest of Little Falls. He attended school in a country school in District #9 until the eighth grade. Daniel worked in the CC Camps and later in Minneapolis. He entered the United States Army serving during WWII in France. He received an honorable discharge. Upon returning from the service, Daniel worked in Michigan, later returning to Swan River Township, Morrison County, MN where he farmed all his life. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, deer hunting and Salmon fishing with his nephew on Lake Michigan. He was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Sobieski and the Little Falls V.F.W. Post #1112. Daniel is survived by a sisters & brother, Leona Bursey of Minneapolis, MN, Richard Lund & wife, Marilyn, of Fridley, MN and Loretta Schneider & husband, Herb of Little Falls, MN, sister-in-law, Marguerite Lund of Maple Grove, MN, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Clarence, Raymond, Leonard & Jerome Lund and sisters, Jean Bursey, Katherine Kujacznski and infant sisters, Frances & Marie Lund. Casketbearers are Ronald, William & Michael Lund, David, Robert & Stephen Schneider.
