Daryl D. Legler, age 77, of Little Falls, MN, passed away on Friday, July 18, 2025. He was born to Robert and Annetta (Veldhuizen) Legler in Pipestone, MN on April 20, 1948.

Daryl will be laid to rest at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery (Little Falls) with military honors on Friday, August 1, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. Services will be officiated by Chaplain Amie Schumacher.

Daryl grew up on the family farm in Woodstock, MN, and was baptized and confirmed in his Christian faith at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Woodstock. He attended Pipestone High School, graduating in 1966. Daryl proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force, and following his honorable discharge, he attended Granite Falls Area Technical Institute, graduating in 1972 with a degree in Fluid Power Technology.

He later moved to the St. Cloud, MN area, where he worked in the hydraulic field, before settling in Little Falls. There, he spent many years driving truck for Larson Boats/Genmar. Daryl was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Little Falls.

After retirement, he was often seen riding his mule (ATV) throughout the Little Falls area collecting cans and taking them to be recycled, which earned him the nickname “The Can Man”. Daryl cherished the many good times spent with family and friends and especially took pride in hosting gatherings during the annual Little Falls Craft Fair. He found great joy in the peacefulness of living along the Mississippi River and treasured his weekly coffee with the guys, as well as spirited games of dominoes with close friends. Community members would often find him roaming around in his wheelchair, always offering a big wave, friendly smile, and his signature thumbs-up.

Daryl is survived by his mother, Annetta Legler; siblings: Arlis Legler, Mavis Hilpipre, Darlene (Paul Mechem) Fritzinger, Dennis (Lulu) Legler, Rolly (Patty Nading) Legler, Nancy (Jim) Strobel and Russ (Lon) Legler; sister-in-law Donna Legler.
