Diane Sanborn

Diane Sanborn 72 year old resident of Hillman, passed away surrounded by loved ones on Sunday, March 24 at Little Falls Care Center in Little Falls. Diane’s wishes were to not have a funeral or wake but to have a Celebration of Life with family and friends at The Cave Bar and Grill in Hillman. The celebration will be held on Saturday, April 13 from 2 – 5 PM. A light lunch will be served.

Diane (Held) Sanborn was born on October 7, 1951 in Hillman to the late Peter and Marie (Sahr) Held.  She attended school in Hillman and Onamia. She worked at Munsingwear in Onamia,  the Pierz Villa, and bartended at the Looney Bend. She enjoyed visiting with everyone.  She was married to Kenneth Girtz of Hillman and had a daughter. The couple later divorced. Diane married Eugene Sanborn and had a son. Diane enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren baking, enjoying time at the lake, visiting with family and mowing the lawn. She also enjoyed her flowers and watching the birds and “keeping the bears from getting her bird feeder”! She loved watching the Twins, Green Bay Packers and Vikings play (in that order).

Survived by daughter, Lisa (Vince) Anez of Little Falls, son, Eugene (Erica Girtz) Sanborn Jr of Little Falls, brother, Richard Held (Tanya Hendrix) of Pierz, sister, Shirley Baumann (Don Buck) of Fridley, grandchildren, Makayla aka Thomas, Dominic, Zane Sanborn, Chance, Caiden and Grace Anez; and Jennifer Tretter and Whitney Lundholm and many nieces and nephews and Ginger her pride and joy Pomeranian.

Preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Marie Held, husband Eugene “Sandy” Sanborn; brothers, Leonard (Bernice) Held, Leroy (Leona) Held, Herbert Held, and Donald (Lucy) Held, brothers-in-law, Gene Baumann, Melvin Guck, sister-in-law, Margie Held, special friends, Bruce Tretter and Gerald Suess, and nieces and nephews.
