Dolores Simmel

Dolores R. Simmel, 87 year old resident of Panama City, Florida, passed away on Saturday, April 18, in Panama City, Florida. A Prayer Service will be held on Saturday, May 2, at 11:00 A.M. at Emblom Brenny Funeral Service in Little Falls with Deacon Luke Waltman. Visitation will be held from 10:00 until the hour of the service at the funeral home. The burial will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Cemetery.

 Dolores Rita Simmel was born on April 20, 1938, in Little Falls, Minnesota, to the late John Sr. and Rita (Meyer) Waldoch. She grew up in Little Falls on the family farm. Dolores remembers her youth fondly, except for when she was made to eat blood sausage. She attended St. Mary’s Catholic School. Dolores worked at Lampert Lumber and later at St. Otto’s Care Center for several years. She was united in marriage to Joseph W. Simmel on December 29, 1978, in Little Falls, Minnesota. The couple made their home in Chisago City. Dolores spent her days as a homemaker. She enjoyed reading, gardening, doing yard work with her husband, and raising their ducks, Bert and Ernie, with her family. Dolores also enjoyed playing board games with her grandchildren. Later in life, she moved to Cambridge to be closer to family.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Sandy (Marty) Beecher of Panama City, FL, Kenny Schreiner of St. Cloud, Don (Lou Ann) Simmel of Cambridge; brother, Len (Rita) Waldoch of Sauk Centre; sister-in-law, Barb Waldoch of Sobieski; 14 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.

 She was preceded in death by her parents, John Sr. and Rita Waldoch; husband, Joseph Simmel; daughter, Roxie Schreiner; and siblings, Richard Waldoch, and John Waldoch Jr.
