Donald John Boser, was born on May 1, 1943 on the Boser family farm to the late August and Marcella (Ross) Boser in Platte Township. He attended Pierz Memorial High School and left to drive milk truck for his uncles Clarence and Ray Ross for 8 years. He married his true love Karen Hiemenz on July 12, 1969 at St. Joseph's Church in Pierz. They farmed for 40 years just a few miles from Pierz, where they raised their five children and had a Gold-N-Plump broiler barn. He worked for 36 years for the Morrison County Highway Department, plowing snow and blading roads. After retirement, he enjoyed driving school bus for the Pierz School District #484 which ended after he had a stroke in 2014. Many good times were had camping, traveling, polka dancing and playing cards with the same group for 40 years. After building their retirement home on Peavy Lake, the family spent time making memories together. Donnie loved to attend his grandkids sporting events and teaching them how to fish. Hunting was always a great time with sons and brothers and the stories they would tell. His Love for John Deere tractors and being a member of the Two Cylinder Club led to many adventures and road side stops over the years. He was the happiest tending to the farm and enjoyed sharing his passion with his grandkids. You never saw him without a chap stick in his pocket or an Arnold Palmer in his hand. He always had wintergreen gum to share with the grandkids to make their day. He will be missed by everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Karen M. Boser of Hillman; children, Brian (Karrie) Boser of Pierz, Vickie (Troy) Baumann of Sartell, Denise (Shane) Harner of Rice, Jason Boser of Pierz and Joni (David) Smude of Pierz; 15 grandkids and three great-grandsons; siblings, Earl (Karen) Boser, Dennis (Gerri) Boser, Carol (Jim) Zapzalka, Duane (Joann) Boser and Glenn (Lori) Boser.
