Doreen Zilka

Doreen Zilka, 92 year old resident of Little Falls died Thursday, May 3 at St. Ottos Care Center in Little Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, May 8 at 11:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Little Falls with Father Joseph Herzing officiating. The burial will be in the parish cemetery. A visitation will be held on Monday, May 7 from 4:00-7:00 P.M. and from 9:00-10:30 A.M. on Tuesday all at Emblom Brenny Funeral Service in Little Falls. The parish prayers will be held at 6:30 P.M. on Monday evening at the funeral home.

Doreen Doris Adamski was born January 9, 1926 in Little Falls to the late Frank (Clara Fenska) Adamski. She grew up in Little Falls and graduated from Little Falls High School. She was united in marriage to Louis Zilka on October 7, 1947 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Flensburg. The couple farmed all their married life. Doreen enjoyed taking care of her family, raising chickens, selling eggs and helping her husband during the planting season and harvest. She also milked a cow from time to time. She treasured the times of making big meals for family and friends, baking cookies, bars, holiday dinners, gardening, canning and sewing. She will be remembered for her chocolate chip cookies, grandma patties, oven fried chicken and being the best mom and grandma. She was a faithful member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and the Daughters of Isabella.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Lawrence Butch (Carolina) Zilka of Moxee, WA, Daniel (Rhonda) Zilka of Randall, Bernadine Leikvoll of Little Falls, Barbara Duchemin of Haverhill, MA, Anita (Jim) Eggerth of Grey Eagle and Janet Mudge of Bemidji. 17 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Louis and a sister, Eileen Johannes.
