Edward Joseph Bursey

Edward Joseph Bursey, 88 year old resident of Royalton, MN died Wednesday, February 24 at the Little Falls Care Center in Little Falls, MN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, February 29 at 10:00 A.M. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Royalton, MN with Fr. Roger Klassen, Fr. Laurn Virnig and Fr. John Odero co-celebrating. The Rosary will be prayed at 3:00 P.M. followed by Knights of Columbus Office of the Dead at 4:30 P.M. and Parish Prayers will be said at 6:00 P.M. on Sunday evening at the church.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, February 28 from 2:00-6:00 P.M. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Royalton and from 9:00-10:00 A.M. on Monday at the church.

The burial will be held at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery north of Little Falls at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, February 29.



Edward Joseph Bursey was born January 9, 1928 in Bowlus, Minnesota to the late Peter and Lucy (Kupka) Bursey, he was the ninth of 16 children. He attended District #136 Country School near Bowlus, MN until the eighth grade. He worked for General Mills in Minneapolis, MN for a few years. He served his Country in the United States Army from December 5, 1950 until his honorable discharge on December 5, 1952. He was united in marriage to Marion Molus on September 7, 1953 at St. Edwards Catholic Church in Elmdale, MN. The couple made their home in Robbinsdale, MN, where Ed worked for General Mills from 1953 until 1964. Ed and Marion moved to Elmdale, MN in 1964. The couple owned the Elmdale Liquor until 1967. They then moved to Royalton where they owned Eddies Log Bar for several years. Eddie worked for Holy Trinity Catholic Church maintaining the lawns at the church and cemetery in Royalton. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, carpentry work, shaking dice and visiting with friends. Ed was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Royalton, the Knights of Columbus Council #13398, the American Legion Post #137 and the Royalton Fire Department.



Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Marion Bursey of 62 years of Royalton; brother, Clarence (Irene) Bursey of Shakopee, Ronald (Nancy) Bursey of Minnetonka, Peter, Jr, (Karen) Bursey of St. Cloud; sister, Genevieve (Genny) Benusa of Little Falls; Many relatives, friends and neighbors

He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Lucy (Kupka) Bursey; brothers, John, Alois, Raymond, George, Robert, Richard and Donald; sisters, Monica Minnie Sowada, Mary Sobania, Regina Warzecha, Bernadette Bernie Opatz; mother and father-in-law, Elizabeth and Peter Molus; sister-in-law, Irene Molus and a brother-in-law, Elmer Molus.
