Edward Smude, 87 year old resident of Pierz, MN passed away on Sunday, September 16, 2007 at the Pierz Villa in Pierz, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Pierz with Father Gerald Dalseth officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph's Parish Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 P.M. on Tuesday, September 18th and from 9-10 A.M. on Wednesday at the Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service in Pierz. Christian Mother's Rosary will be said at 4:30 P.M. followed by Parish Prayers at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday evening at the funeral home in Pierz. Edward M. Smude was born October 4, 1919 in Granite Township, Morrison County, Minnesota to the late John and Catherine Smude. He farmed on the family farm in Granite Township for 60 years. Edward was united in marriage to Arlene Schley on June 6, 1945 in Bull Dog Lake, MN. Edward and Arlene moved to Pierz, MN in 1976. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Pierz, MN. Edward is survived by his wife, Arlene Smude of Pierz, MN; children, Sally (Herb) Virnig of Pierz, MN, Donald (Kathy) Smude of St. Cloud, MN and Lynn Smude of Rogers, MN; seven grandchildren, Kelly, Shannon, Mike, Sarah, Michelle, Margaret and Elizabeth; four great grandchildren, Lexus, Levi, Austin and Alex. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Dennis Smude, sisters, Rose Hettver, Julia Janson and Josephine Smude and brother, Stanley Smude. Serving as casket bearers will be Jim Hettver, Darrell Smude, Richard Smude, Mike Virnig, Sarah Virnig and Elizabeth Smude.
