Gerald P. Thomalla

Gerald P. Thomalla, age 86, of North Prairie, MN, passed away Saturday, July 13, 2013, at the St. Cloud Hospital.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, North Prairie, MN, with Fr. Laurn Virnig officiating.Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 8:00 pm on Monday, July 15, 2013 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, North Prairie, MN.There will be a Parish Prayer service at 7:30 pm.

Visitation will continue on Tuesday from 9:30-10:30 am.

Gerald Peter Paul Thomalla was born on June 29, 1927, in Two Rivers Township, Morrison County, MN, the son of Joseph & Sophie (Sobiech) Thomalla.He attended school in North Prairie and Royalton.On October 1, 1951, he was united in marriage to Donna Mrosla at Holy Cross Catholic Church in North Prairie.The couple lived in the Rice area for 27 years and in the North Prairie area for the past 35 years.Gerald was employed at Dezurik Corp. in Sartell for 42 years.He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and playing cards.He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, St. Josephs Society, Minnesota Dark House Association, Machinist & Aerospace Union 623 for over 60 years, former member of the Rice Fire Department and was grounds keeper for Holy Cross Cemetery for many years.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Donna Thomalla of North Prairie; children, Allen (Arlene) Thomalla of Bowlus, Thomas (Deborah) Thomalla of Bowlus, Joseph (Mary) Thomalla of St. Stephen, Daniel (Ginger) Thomalla of Elk River and Mardelle (Rollie) Trettel of Bowlus; sisters, Shirley (Tom) Solorz of Stanchfield and Doreen (Lloyd) Solorz of St. Cloud; sister-in-law, Julia Thomalla of St. Cloud; 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Gerald was preceded in death by his son, Rodney (1977); parents, Joseph (1967) & Sophie (1987); sister, Alice Peterick (1996); brothers, Jerome (1990) and Walter (2008).
