Gordon Robert Oldakowski

Gordon "Gordy" Oldakowski, 67 year old resident of Royalton, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, September 13. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 18 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Buckman, with Father Aaron Nett and Father Kenneth Popp officiating. The burial will be held in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 17 from 4:00-8:00 P.M. at Emblom Brenny Funeral Service in Pierz and from 9:30 A.M. until the hour of the service on Friday, September 18 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Buckman. A Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday evening at the funeral home.

Gordon Robert Oldakowski was born on November 11, 1958, in Little Falls, Minnesota, to Robert and Dorothy (Lanners) Oldakowski. He grew up in Buckman, surrounded by the love of his parents and his siblings—Paul, Ruth, Mary, Jeff, Dan, and Greg. After graduating from Pierz High School, Gordy dedicated his life to farming alongside his brother, Dan, in Little Rock, Morrison County, Minnesota. He recently retired in January 2022, passing the mantle of their family legacy to his niece, who will continue to cultivate the land with the same passion and devotion. Gordy found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He had a knack for canning, was proud to grow popcorn and maple syrup, and generously shared the fruits of his labor with family and friends. His love for nature was evident in his treasured hunting trips—coyote, deer, and bear—where he created lasting memories with those, he held dear. A devoted member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Buckman, he was known for his unwavering support of the church and his contributions to the community. His joyful Mondays spent making pizzas with friends at the “Bank” in Buckman will be fondly remembered by many. Gordy will be deeply missed and cherished by his siblings: Paul (Diane), Ruth (Gregg), Mary Jo, Jeff, Dan (Dee), and Greg (Anne); along with 15 nieces and nephews, 17 great-nieces and nephews, and two on the way.

He is preceded in death by his loving parents, Robert and Dorothy Oldakowski; two infant brothers; one infant sister; sister-in-law, Sue Oldakowski; and many extended family members. In honoring the memory of Gordon "Gordy" Oldakowski, we remember a life filled with love, laughter, and compassion. His spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
