Harvey Christ Block

Harvey C. Block, 69 year old resident of Pierz died Wednesday, May 30 at his home in Pierz. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 2 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Johns Catholic Church in Lastrup with Father David Maciej officiating. The burial will be held in the parish cemetery. A visitation will be held on Friday, June 1 from 4:00-8 P.M. and from 8:30-9:45 A.M. on Saturday all at Emblom Brenny Funeral Service in Pierz. A Parish Prayer will be said at 5:30 P.M. on Friday evening at the funeral home.

Harvey Christ Block was born on April 25, 1949 in Little Falls, Morrison County to the late Herb and Marceline (Tretter) Block. He attended school in Buh Township until the 9th grade at which time he was required to stay home and help his family on the farm. As a young man he worked as a ranch hand in Frenchtown, MT after a few years he returned to Minnesota to be closer to his family. Harvey bartended at Vics Bar in Lastrup and worked in masonry and construction for the following businesses: Don Kapsner, Sonny Hoffman and Gottwalt Construction. Harvey could be found most Wednesdays and Saturdays at the Red Rooster in Genola listening to music. He enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, hobby farming, wood working, gardening, shooting trap with his grandkids, the outdoors, bird watching, watching the Minnesota Twins and of course Westerns on TV.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Pam (Steve) Scherping of Randall, Amy (Tate) Faehnrich of Little Falls, Ronnie (Pam Scofield) Block of Little Falls; grandchildren, Bryan Maleski, Joshua Maleski, Lane Holtslander, Heather (Nate) Fuller, Jr. Kohl, Hailey Allord, Gunnar Gustafson, Hope Holtslander, Gavin Holtslander, Devon Block, Aaron Block, Ethan Block, Sarah Scofield, Cole Scofield, Larissa (Alex) Kulus, Stephanie Scherping and Alex Scherping; great-grandchildren, Hallie Maleski, Oliver Maleski, Gage Fuller, Ella Fuller and Nora Fuller, Kinzy Kohl; siblings, Norman (Barb) Block of Lastrup, Tom (Diana) Block of Lastrup, Mary Jane Chaika of Randall, Irene (Sylvester) Kohl of Little Falls. Linda (Jeff) Pohlkamp of Lastrup, Kathy (Larry) Miller of Little Falls, LuAnn (Randy) Hoheisel of Genola.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Elaine Jelinski, brother-in-law, Tom Chaika, infant brother, Ron Block.
