Hildegarde C. Bergstrom

Hildegarde "Hilda" C. Bergstrom, age 96 of Upsala, MN passed away Sunday, October 1, 2006 at St. Otto's Care Center in Little Falls, MN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, October 5th, at 10:30 A.M. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Upsala with the Rev. Dale Ettel officiating. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 9:30a"10:30 A.M. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Upsala. Hildegarde "Hilda" Catherine Bergstrom was born April 25, 1910 in St. Anthony, Stearns County, MN to the late Mathias and Agnes (Welters) VanHeel. She became an orphan at a very young age through the death of her parents. Hilda attended school in St. Anthony. She was united in marriage to Theodore Bergstrom in 1930. Hilda and Ted settled on a farm in Swanville Township, MN where they farmed and raised four boys. Hilda also worked as a cashier in a grocery store in Upsala. Following her husband's death in 1988, Hilda continued to live on the farm and in 1991 moved to the City of Upsala. Due to ill health in 2005, Hilda became a resident of St. Otto's Care Center in Little Falls residing there until her death. Hilda is survived by her son, Frank Bergstrom & wife, Susan of Swanville, MN, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore "Ted", parents; sons, Raymond, Gordon & LeRoy Bergstrom; infant twin brother, Alfred; brothers, Clemens & Edward VanHeel; sisters, Martha Thull and Christine Koshenia.
