James Norbert Thoma, 52 year old resident of Woodbury formerly of Little Falls, left this world unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 3 in Blair, NE. His grief has now become all of ours, and his loss will leave a hole in our hearts. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 9 at 11:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Little Falls. Visitation will be held from 1:00-4:00 P.M. on Sunday, February 8 and from 9:00-10:30 A.M. on Monday, February 9, all visitation times will be held at Emblom Brenny Funeral Service in Little Falls. The Our Lady of Lourdes Christian Women will pray the rosary at 1:30 P.M. on Sunday at the funeral home. The burial will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Little Falls.
Jim was born on October 1, 1973 in Little Falls to Frederick and Delores (Koetter) Thoma. He grew up in Little Falls, where he attended Our Lady of Lourdes Elementary School and graduated from Little Falls Community High School. Jim was a runner, having completed 50 marathons. He was also a steward of the land, having planted many trees on the 80 acres of land he owned in Little Falls, and eventually sold to his family to enjoy with their growing families. Jim worked for most of his life for Alliance Technical Group, fearless in climbing stacks 50-100 feet tall to test emissions, among other tasks. He was also proud of having earned a Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture from NDSU, and still enjoyed watching Bison Football. He additionally later earned a Pharmacy tech degree and license, with a 4.0 GPA.
He is survived by his mother, Delores (Koetter) Thoma of Little Falls; brothers, Dennis (Ann) Thoma of Little Falls and John Thoma of Avon; sisters, Mary (Paul Hagan) Thoma, Anne (Nick) Allan and Janet (Ward) Nelson all of Rochester; former wife, Carol Huck of Woodbury and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Frederick Thoma.
He will be greatly missed. We will keep looking for you Jim in the summertime stars, Brother, Son and Best Friend.
