Janice "Jan" C. Hartmann

Janice Jan C. Hartmann, 67 year old resident of Hillman, passed away on Monday, April 8, 2019 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, April 25, 2019 at Holy Family Catholic Church on Bulldog Lake with Fr. Elias Gieske officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 A.M. until the start of the church service on Thursday. The burial will be held after the church ceremony in the parish cemetery.

Janice was born on August 4, 1951 to Morell and Beatrice (Olson) Wisted in Detroit Lakes. After high school Jan attended college at Moorhead State University earning her Bachelor Degree in Economics. On June 28th, 1980, she married the love of her life, Jeff Hartmann. The couple made their home in the Minnetonka- Plymouth area for the next 30 years, where Jan worked as a senior computer programmer for Tennant Corporation in Golden Valley and they raised their daughter, Lucy. After retirement, Jan was a very active member of the Holy Family Catholic Church where she was involved with the retreat center, was a member of the St. Elizabeth Council, took part in church committees, and was a staple in the church choir. Her passion and talent for quilting also allowed her the opportunity to donate 50 quilts to raise funds for the church. Jan was an avid reader of books and the daily paper, loved to travel, hike, golf, and participate in biking tours.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 38 years, Jeff of Hillman; daughter, Lucy (Ryan) Van Dell of Gilbert, AZ; grandsons, Ryder and Wheeler; brothers, Bruce (Gail) of Detroit Lakes, Ron of Detroit Lakes; and many in-laws, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Morell and Beatrice Wisted; and brother, Craig.
