Janice Urban

Janice "Jan" (Schneider) Urban, 59 year old resident of Little Falls died Saturday, May 25 at the University of Minnesota Hospital. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 7 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Sobieski. A visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 6 at the Emblom Brenny Funeral Service and from 10:00-11:00 A.M. on Friday at the church in Sobieski. The burial will be held in the parish cemetery.

Janice Marie Schneider was born on June 13, 1959 in Little Falls to Herbert and Loretta (Lund) Schneider. She attended school in Little Falls and graduated with the class of 1977. She was united in marriage to David Urban on June 26, 1982 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Sobieski and the couple later divorced. Jan worked for many years in the deli department at Coborns Super Store in Little Falls. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, gardening, playing cards, traveling, camping, listening to country music. Jan was known as the dog whisperer when it came to the local neighborhood stray dog. Jan was one of a kind. She always tried to get along with everyone and had the kindest soul and softest heart.

Tending to the family garden, crocheting afghans, attending bluegrass and country music concerts, and playing games with friends and family were some of her hobbies. She was an avid cook and baker, and was known for making sure the cookie jar at her fathers farm was always full with homemade treats.

Her positive work ethic and dedication shined through at the Coborns meat counter, and from helping out family, friends, and her church with preparations for events.

Jan loved her family dearly. Her granddaughter was the light of her life and she would try to spend as much time with her as possible.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Mark (Katie) Urban of St. Cloud, Kristen (Andrew) Wambach of New Hope and Ryan Urban of Sauk Rapids; granddaughter, Henley Urban; father, Herb Schneider of Sobieski; siblings, Dave Schneider of Little Falls, Judy (Dan) Saewert of Burnsville, Steve Schneider of Little Falls, Joe Schneider of Little Falls, Tom (Charlotte) Schneider of Little Falls, John (Renae) Schneider of Little Falls, Ray Schneider of Big Lake, Mary (Butch) Sobania of Grand Rapids, Katie (Joel) Bodin of Chanhassen, Peggy (Ed) Heying of Rice, Bob Schneider of Little Falls, Mike (Michelle LeBeau) Schneider of Roseville and Jenny (Brian) Plath of Hutchinson and many nieces, nephews relatives and friends.
