Jerome J. Kowalzek

Jerome J. Kowalzek, 74 year old resident of Pierz, MN passed away Thursday, September 15, 2016 at the Harmony House in Pierz.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 AM on Monday, September 19 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Harding, MN with Father David Maciej officiating. A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 18 from 4-6 PM at the Emblom Brenny Funeral Service in Pierz, with a prayer service at 5 PM, and also one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, north of Little Falls.

Jerome was born on September 18, 1941 in Platte Township, Morrison County, Minnesota to Erma and Felix Kowalzek. He was in the U.S. Army for two years and two months. He was united in marriage to Erna Waytashek on August 5, 1963 at St. John Nepomunk Catholic Church in Lastrup, MN. Jerome worked at Prospect Foundry in Minneapolis, MN for 40 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and yard work with his John Deere tractor. He was also fond of listening to polka music, and spending time with his family friends. Jerome was proud to have helpedbuild Holy Cross Catholic Church in Harding.

Jerome is survived by his wife, Erna Kowalzek of Pierz, MN; children, Dennis (Gayle) Kowalzek of Lino Lakes, MN, Lisa Kowalzek of Coon Rapids, MN; sister, Lois Hoheisel of Hillman, MN; brothers, Larry (Iris) Kowalzek of Pierz, MN, David (Nancy) Kowalzek of Fort Ripley, MN, Gary (Brenda) Kowalzek of Coon Rapids, MN; grandchildren, Lindsey Kowalzek of San Marcos, CA and Brian Kowalzek of Lino Lakes, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Alwin Kowalzek, Roger Kowalzek, Delroy Barney Kowalzek, and Irene Schwartz.
