After graduating from Mahnomen High School in 1961, Tom attended Aakers Business College in Grand Forks, North Dakota, where he obtained a business degree in Sales and Marketing. He entered into sales with Rydell Chevrolet in Grand Forks before ultimately finding his true calling at Larson Boats in Little Falls. As the vice president of sales, Tom dedicated four decades to the company, leaving an indelible mark on the industry. On June 20, 1964, Tom sealed his lifelong commitment to Sandy Gunderson in a loving union at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Bejou, Minnesota. In 1969, they pursued their dreams and settled in Little Falls, Minnesota, where they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Their journey was graced by the blessings of three children: Tim, Troy, and Karla. In 1991 Tom and Sandy moved to Lake Alexander. Tom's zest for life was evident in his numerous passions and hobbies. They loved spending time on the lake in their treasured home. He enjoyed golfing with friends, bowling, and embarking on hunting and fishing adventures with his beloved family and friends. Tom certainly lived each day to the fullest. His joy extended to Minnesota sports, he was a huge Vikings, Wild, Twins and Gopher fan. A favorite sports memory was attending the 7th game of the 1987 World Series with his two sons. He enjoyed the simple task of tending to his lawn and would often be found visiting with his neighbors while sitting on his tractor. As a proud and loving grandfather, Tom found immense happiness in cheering on his grandchildren at their various activities. His presence radiated pride and love as he supported his grandchildren, including Kayla Rae, Austin, Landon, Nolan, Ella, Tauer, Peyton, and Dawson. Tom's impact extended beyond his family as he actively contributed to his community. He was a former member of the Lake Alexander Lake Association, LID Committee and  the Jaycees. Tom served on the church council at Bethany Lutheran in Cushing, where he and Sandy were members for over 30 years. Tom left traces of generosity and dedication wherever he went. After returning to Little Falls in 2022, his spiritual home was Faith Lutheran, where his faith blossomed and he found solace in the presence of his community.
