Lynden H. Johnson

Lynden H. Johnson, 92 year old resident of Little Falls, passed away at Quiet Oaks Hospice House on Monday, August 17th in St. Augusta, MN. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, August 24th at 11:00 A.M. at First Lutheran Church in Little Falls with Bob Mueller officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 P.M. on Sunday, August 23rd at Emblom Brenny Funeral Service in Little Falls and from 9:30 A.M. until the hour of the service on Monday at the church. The burial will be held at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery north of Little Falls at 12:00 P.M. on Monday. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to First Lutheran Church in Little Falls: 2100 Riverview Dr, Little Falls, MN 56345

Lynden Herman Johnson was born to Herman and Lavina (Klappenbach) Johnson on November 21, 1933 on a farm near Deer Creek, Otter Tail County, Minnesota. The family moved to rural Brainerd in 1936. He graduated from Brainerd High School with the class of 1951 and Brainerd Community College in 1953. He then attended the University of Minnesota and was inducted into the United States Army in 1954 was discharged in 1956. He was united in marriage to Kay Koop in Brainerd. The couple later divorced. He entered the University of Minnesota in 1956 and graduated in 1958 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He worked many years in the Twin Cities area in the Hospital Facilities Engineering field. He moved with his family to Little Falls in 1974, where he took the position of Director of Campus Services for St. Gabriel's Hospital and the Franciscan Sister's campus. He held other administrative positions on the Campus and served for over 40 years. Lynden was active in the professional health care engineering societies. He served on the Board of Directors of The American Society of Healthcare Engineering and was elected National President of the Society in 1980. he was one of the founders of the Minnesota Healthcare Engineering Association in 1976. Lynden was a Registered Professional Engineering in the state of Minnesota. He was a member of the Little Falls Lions Club and First Lutheran Church in Little Falls for over 50 years.

 Left to cherish his memory are his children, Kraig (Elizabeth) Johnson of Stillwater, Kelly (Mark) Nagel of St. Cloud, Kathy (Richard) Wable of Maryland and Kirsten (Todd) Sandman of Cumberland, WI; grandchildren, Jenna (Johnny) Czech of St. Joseph, Ally (Chris) Sapper of Minneapolis, Andy Nagel of Big Sky, MT, Courtney (Alex) Wensman of Becker, T.J. (Megan) Bevans of Sartell, Jacob and Nathan Wable of Maryland, Erik Sandman of Cumberland, WI, Ethan Sandman of Duluth; great-grandchildren, Charles, Julia and Noelle Czech of St. Joseph, Colette Wensman of Becker and Nina and Lauren Sapper of Minneapolis. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Kari Johnson Bevans; brothers, Stan, Dennis and Arnie Johnson and his former wife and dear friend, Kay Johnson.
