Marlene Knopik, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on November 20, 2023, at the age of 87 with her family at her side. Marlene's journey on this earth may have come to an end, but her legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Born on October 15, 1936, in Little Falls, Minnesota, Marlene was the cherished daughter of Alfred and Blanche Litke. Growing up in the Harding area, she received her education and embarked on a life filled with adventure and love. On November 4, 1952, she said "I do" to the love of her life, LeRoy Knopik, in a beautiful ceremony held at Holy Family Catholic Church at Bull Dog Lake.
Following their marriage they traveled to different duty stations while LeRoy was stationed in the army. Upon his discharge, they made their home in the St. Paul area for several years, creating countless memories together. Throughout her life, Marlene held various jobs, leaving a lasting impact on all those she encountered. In 1979, the couple built their retirement home on Sullivan Lake, where they embraced the serenity of their surroundings, owning and operating the Shady Brook Supper Club for a brief period.
Marlene's vibrant spirit could not be contained within the confines of everyday life. She found joy in the simple pleasures, such as trips to the casino, bird watching, gardening, fishing, and grouse hunting. However, her greatest treasure was undoubtedly the time she spent with her family. Marlene's devotion to her loved ones knew no bounds, and she cherished each moment spent with her husband, LeRoy, their children, Deb, Yvonne, Sandy, Doug, and Danny along with their extended family of 14 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, December 5, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Harding, MN. Prior to the service, a time of gathering for family and friends will be held at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of the ceremony.
The Knopik family would like to express their gratitude to all those who have offered support and condolences during this difficult time. Your love and kindness are deeply appreciated.
