Marlene Carol Virnig

Marlene Virnig, 78-year-old resident of Little Falls, passed away on Friday, June 9 at her home in Little Falls.  A Memorial Service for Marlene will be held on Friday, June 23^rd at 11:00 A.M. at Emblom Brenny Funeral Service in Little Falls.  The burial will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Cemetery in Little Falls. A time of gathering for family and friends will be held at 9:00 A.M. until the hour of the service on Friday, June 23^rd at Emblom Brenny Funeral Service in Little Falls.

Marlene Carol Virnig was born on November 6, 1944 in Minneapolis, MN to the late Martin and Eleanor (Gusso) Janey.  The family moved to Lastrup when Marlene was a young girl to farm. Marlene married and continued farming in Hillman for many years before divorcing and moving to Little Falls.

Marlene enjoyed flowers, gardening, crocheting and all animals, especially her cat “baby kitty”. As she grew older, she took advantage of getting fresh vegetables and other produce at the Farmers Market Street early Saturday mornings. Marlene was a wonderful cook and made the best creamy cucumbers, potato salad and refrigerator pickles. In her later years, Marlene enjoyed watching TV and had many favorites. The Young and the Restless, CSI, CMT, Law and Order along with the Minnesota Vikings just to name a few. She also enjoyed listening to country music and watching CMT videos and the Country Music Award shows.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Benno (Suzanne) Virnig, Patty (Brian), Felix (Kim) Virnig, David (Janet) Virnig and Tammie (Jason) Leibold; grandchildren: Benno Jr., Jesse, Raymond, Brandon and Rebecca; David and Kaitlyn; Sierra and Marissa; Montana and Tyler; Zachary, Jacob and Nicholas; 9 great-grandchildren; brother, Steve (Patty) Janey; sister-in-law, Marty Janey.

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Connie Virnig, and brothers, David, Mike and Daryl Janey.
