Mary Meyer, 101 year old resident of Pierz, passed away at her home on Saturday, September 27. A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, October 17 at 11:00 A.M at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Little Falls with Father Benjamin Kociemba and Father Ken Riedemann concelebrating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 16 from 4:00-7:00 P.M. with a time of sharing at 6:00 P.M. and from 9:00 A.M. until 10:30 A.M. on Friday, October 17 with a KC Prayer at 9:30 A.M. all visitation times will be held at Emblom Brenny Funeral Service in Little Falls. The burial will be held in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Little Falls.
Mary Rose Scepurek was born December 20, 1923 in Swan River Township to the late Jacob and Mary (Schlichting) Scepurek. She attended country grade school and graduated from St. Francis High School. After graduation she attended teachers training school. She was united in marriage to Clifford Meyer on July 30, 1947 at St. James Catholic Church in Randall, MN. The couple made their home in Little Falls. She taught all grades in several Country Schools throughout the County and worked at St. Mary's School in Little Falls as a teacher’s assistant for over 15 years. She enjoyed her time as a teacher meeting all the children and working with her colleagues. Mary did a lot of sewing, crocheting and gardening. She had beautiful flower beds. She enjoyed reading and keeping up to date with the news and current events. Mary loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Christian Mothers and the Legion of Mary.
She will forever be loved and remembered by her children, Virgil Meyer, Steven (Ellen) Meyer, Yvonne Meyer, Louise (Martin) Rudolph, Mary Lynn Bastoni, Vincent Meyer and Lois Meyer; brother, Alphonse (Mary) Scepurek; grandchildren, Matthew, Michael, David, Ryan, Philip, Paul, Nathan, Ann, Bridget, Mark, Monica, Joseph and Rae; 17 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clifford Meyer; grandchildren, Matthew Rudolph, Stephanie Meyer, Alex Meyer, and Hope Rudolph; siblings, Albert (Rose) Scepurek, John (Gerry) Scepurek, Ray (Rita) Scepurek, Br. Linus Scepurek, Pauline (Frank) Schmidt and Theresa (Francis) Beig and a son-in-law, Brian Carriere.
