Mary C. Tanner

Mary C. Tanner, 95 year old resident of Little Falls, passed away on Thursday, June 18 at St. Otto’s Care Center. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, June 23 at St. Otto’s Care Center with Bob Mueller officiating. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 23 from 10-11 AM at St. Otto’s Care Center.

Mary (Waltman) Tanner was born on April 1, 1931 in Swan River, MN to the late John and Anna (Solorz) Waltman. She attended school country school in Sobieski, Elmdale and later attending school in Little Falls. She met her husband John Langer and was united in marriage on August 28, 1948 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Belle Prairie. Following their marriage, they moved to Holdingford for 15 years. John passed away on December 17, 1963. Mary was a homemaker and later in life worked at Samson Waterbed Factory. Following John’s death, Mary moved back to Little Falls and purchased a 10 acre farm. She met and married Vernon Tanner on March 5, 1965, where the couple moved to the Pike Creek Township area and lived on their farm. The couple later sold the farm and moved to Randall on April 1, 2006. Vernon passed away on November 2, 2014. Mary continued living in Randall until moving into St. Otto’s Care Center in 2022. Mary enjoyed fishing, dancing, and live music. Her children and grandchildren were a blessing to her and she loved spending time with them. She will be missed by all who knew her. 

Survived by her children, Gloria Langner, Doreen (Bert) Hanson, Tom (Tracy) Langner, Sharon Schneider, Heddie (Don) Wolbeck, Janene (Les) Bell, Michael (Kerry) Tanner, Linette (Brian) Thesing, and Veronica Langner. Numerous grandchildren, great- grandchildren, and great- great- grandchildren survive her.

Preceded in death by her parents; husbands, John and Vernon; children, Allan Langner, David Langner, John Langner, Jeffrey Tanner, Mary Witucki; brothers, Raymond Waltman, Louis Waltman, Joseph Waltman and Edward Waltman; sister, Paulene Lashinski, grandsons, Dennis Witucki and Ty and Owen Bel; son-in-law, Bob Schneider and a step-son, Terry Tanner.
