Maxine Kliber

Maxine L. Kliber, age 75, of Little Falls, MN, died Sunday, September 10, 2006, at St. Gabriel's Hospital in Little Falls, MN. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, September 14, 2006 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Sobieski, MN, with Rev. Raymond Donnay officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the mass at the church. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Maxine was born on November 4, 1930 in Cloquet, Carlton County, Minnesota the daughter of the late William & Helen (Kedrowski) Madson. As a child, she moved to Sobieski where she grew up and attended school. She was united in marriage to Louis Joseph Kliber in 1949 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Sobieski. The couple made their home on a farm west of Sobieski and later moved into Sobieski. Maxine and her husband ran the Black Bull Bar in Sobieski. She also worked as a cook and waitress at Byes Truck Stop in Little Falls and later worked as a nursing assistant at St. Gabriel's Hospital in Little Falls. Following the death of her husband in 1973, Maxine continued living in Sobieski until moving to Tower, MN, in 1978. In 1980, she moved to Elk River, MN, and in 1986, she moved to Glenwood, MN, where she lived for 18 years. Maxine returned to Little Falls in May, 2005 and lived at the Pine Grove Manor. Maxine's passion was cooking. She loved to bake, especially homemade bread. She enjoyed cooking big meals and sharing them with family, friends and other residents of the Pine Grove Manor. She also enjoyed fishing, playing cards, pull tabs, dancing, listening to old tyme music and having a good time. She was an avid, faithful listener of Party Line and Gino's Polka Time on Sunday mornings. She was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Sobieski and the Sobieski Lions Club. Maxine is survived by her children, Karen Beghly of Lino Lakes, MN, John Kliber of Villard, MN, Helen (Mark) Madden of Starbuck, MN, Janice "Chickie" (Mark Banks) Kliber of Villard, MN and Michelle "Missy" Kliber of Dayton, MN; siblings, Duane Madson of Little Falls, MN and Rodney (Adeline) Madson of Sobieski, MN; grandchildren, Anitra, Justin, Jessica, Charlene, Kari, Dacia, Kurt, Karl, Ross, Jason, Shawn, Ryan, Ashley and Amber and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, William & Helen (Kedrowski) Madson and husband, Louis Joseph Kliber (September 16, 1973).
