Philip Tretter

Philip Tretter, 83 year old resident of Lastrup, MN died September 10, 2007 at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, September 14 at 11:00 AM at St. John's Nepomuk Church in Lastrup with Rev. Roger Thoennes officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 PM on Thursday at the Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service and from 9-10:30 AM on Friday at the funeral home. Rosary will be said at 4:30 PM followed by Parish Prayers at 6:30 PM. Philip was born May 25, 1924 in Granite Township, Morrison County to the late John L and Theresia (Schmidtbauer) Tretter. He attended rural school near Lastrup, MN. He operated the family farm until he married Edith Gruber Sporlein on October 11, 1954 at St. John's Catholic Church in Lastrup, MN. The couple farmed near Lastrup, MN until retiring. Philip did a lot of custom work for farmers baling hay and shredding corn. Philip was a meat cutter by trade, making sausage of all kinds for meat markets and farmers. He enjoyed his family, little children, cooking, baking cookies, breads, fishing and hunting. He is survived by his daughters, Carol Bell and Arlene Smude; seven grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandcildren. sisters, Lydia Hoheisel Lucy Becker and Theresia (Maurice) Becker; brother, Robert Tertter. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Edith; sisters, Regina Hoffman, Marie Hoffman, Leona Tretter and Hildegard Block and Girty Medek; brothers, Reinhart Tretter and Edwin Tretter.
