Reed Allen Olson

Reed Olson, a 67 year old resident of Little Falls, passed away on July 24th, 2026, at his home in Little Falls. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Reed Allen Olson was born on January 25th, 1959, and raised in Minneapolis by his parents, Adella Kuhn and John Dumbeck. An adventurous and outgoing soul, Reed was taken under the wing of the local police department. The officers mentored him and taught him many life lessons. He was also taught boxing and self-defense skills by the officers and joined the department’s boxing team. Reed began working for Datacard and was employed for more than 30 years. A skilled mechanic, Reed owned his own mechanic shop for many years. Reed was married to Laura Richner on May 29th, 2015, in Little Falls, where the couple made their home.

Reed will be remembered as a man who could fix anything from a leaky faucet to a broken transmission. He was always there to lend a hand to anyone in need. Reed also enjoyed travel, especially camping trips to the North Shore. He shared his love of travel and adventure with his wife Laura. A memorable adventure the two shared was a road trip to Maine to enjoy fresh lobster. Reed also enjoyed fishing, cooking, creating wood-burning art, and spending time with his dog, Cooper and cat, Jack. Above all, Reed loved his family and was a beloved “Papa” to many.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Laura Olson of Little Falls; daughters, Darlene Olson of Clarksville, TN, Melissa (Addarrel) Stokes of Clarksville, TN, and Michelle Olson of Little Falls; step-daughter, Melissa “Missy” Hilmerson of Pierz; brother, Randy Olson of Denver, CO; 33 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and dog, Cooper and cat, Jack.

Reed is preceded in death by his parents, Adella Kuhn and John Dumbeck; son, Josh Olson; siblings, Cheryl Olson, Steve Olson, and Roger Olson; and grandchild, Samantha Olson.
