Richard Sobieck, 66 year old resident of Sartell, formerly of Royalton, passed away at his home. A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, July 16 at 1:00 P.M. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Royalton with Father Greg Sauer officiating. The burial will be held in the parish cemetery. A visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. until the hour of the service on Tuesday at the church. Please follow the link below to view the livestream of the service.
Richard William Sobieck was born on June 12, 1958 to the late George and Ione (Justin) Sobieck in Little Falls, MN. He grew up in Royalton with his four siblings, Thomas, Mary, Jerry and Georgia. Rick attended Royalton Elementary and Royalton High School graduating with the class of 1976. He was very active with many sports teams while in high school, mainly football, baseball and basketball. Rick attended Brainerd Community College from 1976 until 1977. He transferred to St. Cloud Area Vocational/Technical College from 1977 until December 1978 and graduated from the machine shop. He was united in marriage to Marcella Schmidt on October 20, 1984 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Little Falls. The couple later divorced. Rick worked as a Machinist at DeZurik's corporation in Sartell, MN for over 37 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, traveling to historic areas and watching his son play hockey and other sports for many years.
Left to cherish his memory are his siblings, Thomas (Bonnie) Sobieck of San Diego, CA, Jerry (Lori) Sobieck of Andover, MN, Mary (Pat McGrane) Sobieck of the Villages in Florida and Georgia (Shayne) Hogenson of Foley, MN; son, Michael Sobieck of Little Falls; nieces, Kristen (Jeff) Dockan, Erin (William) Kanuha, Laura (Lucas Ireland) Sobieck, Jennifer (Nick) Gangl, Jaclyn (Tony) Reed and nephew, Steven (Madeline) Sobieck.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ione Sobieck on October 26, 2005 and his dad, George Sobieck on November 17, 2020.
