Robert Bob Orr, 78 year old resident of Little Falls, formerly of Willmar, died Saturday, June 17 at his home in Little Falls, with his family by his side. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, June 24 at First Lutheran Church in Little Falls, with Rev. Jake Dyrhaug officiating. A visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11:00 AM also at the church.
Robert Eugene Orr was born March 21, 1939 in Hinckley, MN to the late Walter and Virginia (Pearson) Orr. Bob attended the University of Minnesota, where he received a Bachelors of Arts in Art Education and minored in Physical Education. He was united in marriage to Barbara Johnson on September 8, 1961 at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, MN. The couple made their home in Willmar. He worked for Minnesota Engraving for a short time. Bob was a Fine Arts teacher for Willmar Senior High School, district 347 for 37 years. He also owned and operated Santee Studio in Willmar and Little Falls. Bob had a quest for learning. He was a public announcer for Willmar High School Sports, and started Willmar High School Cross Country Program. In 1994 he designed a new art department for the school and was commissioned by the Willmar American Legion to create a bronze entrance piece. Bob was the first art instructor at the University of Minnesota- Morris to teach a summer program for the gifted. After his retirement, the couple moved to Little Falls in October of 2007. Bobs hobbies included riding his horse on trails, reading, watching old westerns on television, and listening to country music. Bob was a member of 5th District Quarter Horse Association, Willmar Area Arts Association, Willmar Federation of Teachers, Kandiyohi Sheriffs Posse, and GRAA.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Barbara of Little Falls; sons, Charles (Mary) Orr of East Falmouth, MA, Robb (Maria) Orr of Little Falls; grandchildren, Michael Orr, Emily Orr, Jamison Orr, Justin Orr; brothers, Stan (Jan) Orr of Mesa, AZ, Ron (Jane) of Washington; and sister, Nancy (Don) Scholl of North Carolina.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Roy Orr.
