Roger Geschwill

Roger Geschwill, age 76, of Pierz, MN, passed away Monday, April 20, 2015, at his home in Pierz.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 27, 2015 at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Pierz, MN, with Fr. Kenneth Popp officiating.Interment with military honors will be at a later date in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery north of Little Falls, MN.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 26, 2015, and 9:00am until the hour of service on Monday, April 27th
all at the church in Pierz.
There will be a parish prayer service at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday at the church followed by the Knights of Columbus St. Isidore Council Office of the Dead at 8:00 p.m.

Roger was born on July 18, 1938, in Buckman, Minnesota the son of John & Erna (Medek) Geschwill.He grew up in Buckman where he attended grade school and then went to Royalton High School through the 10th grade.Following his schooling, Roger worked at the Buckman Creamery.He enlisted in the United States Navy on August 30, 1957 and was honorably discharged on August 29, 1961.He then served in the reserves until August 29, 1963.He was united in marriage to Janice Spiczka on June 7, 1960, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Brennyville.The couple moved back to Pierz following Rogers discharge and raised their family.Roger worked for 37 years at the Little Rock Creamery and in his retirement he worked as custodian at Farmers & Merchants State Bank in Pierz.He enjoyed playing the concertina, old time music, traveling, hunting and fishing. Roger was a member of St. Josephs Catholic Church, Pierz Knights of Columbus, Eastern Morrison County Sportsmans Club and the NRA.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Janice of Pierz, MN; children, Suzanne (Bob) Volkmuth of Brainerd, MN, Richard Geschwill of Pierz, MN, Mary (Ron) Decker of St. Cloud, MN, Nancy (Curtis) Jendro of Fort Ripley, MN, Judy (Steven) Keske of Cambridge, MN and Cynthia (Norm) Boucher of Germany; brothers, Kenny (Karen) Geschwill of Bruno, MN, Donny (Dolores) Geschwill of Bruno, MN, Eddie (Deli) Geschwill of Backus, MN, Bill Geschwill of Little Falls, MN and Jerome Geschwill of St. Michael, MN; sisters, Joyce (Dave) Schmidtz of Little Falls, MN, Elaine Jabas of Askov, MN, Joanne (Bill) Frey of Texas and Ellen (Greg) Johnson of Cambridge, MN; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Gerald Geschwill and Joseph Geschwill; granddaughter, Christine Geschwill; and brother, Eugene Geschwill.
