Russell A. Farrow Russell A. Farrow, age 82 of Burtrum, MN passed away Saturday, September 16, 2006 at his home in Grey Eagle Township, Todd County, MN. A Mass of Christian Burial will held Tuesday at 10:30 A.M. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grey Eagle with Father mark Willenbring officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Monday, September 18, 2006, and Tuesday from 9:30-10:30 A.M. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grey Eagle. Parish Prayers will be said at 7:00 P.M. Monday evening at the church. Russell A. Farrow was born December 25, 1923 in Sauk Centre, Stearns County, MN to the late Richard and Vera (McDougal) Farrow. He grew up in Sauk Centre where he attended country school and also Grey Eagle Schools. Russell entered the United States Army on November 14, 1944, receiving an Honorable Discharge on March 21, 1946. During his military service, Russell participated in the Philippine Liberation Campaign. He received the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, WWII Victory Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal, one Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. He re-enlisted in the United States Army on March 22, 1946 receiving a second Honorable Discharge on April 28, 1947. Russell was united in marriage to Delores R. Marty on July 2, 1946 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grey Eagle, MN. The couple lived in Burtrum, MN later moving to St. Paul where Russell worked for Metco Ornamental Iron Works for 20 years. Russell and Delores moved back to Burtrum, MN and he worked for Jennie-O Foods in Melrose, MN retiring in 1987. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grey Eagle. Russell enjoyed crafts, gardening, playing cards, watching the Minnesota Vikings and the Minnesota Twins, and especially spending time with his family. Russell Farrow is survived by his wife, Delores; sons, Curtis & wife, Alice, of Greenfield, MN, Daniel & wife, Pamela, of Burtrum, MN; daughters, Diane Giefer & husband, Bob, of Pine River, MN, Phyllis Nellessen & husband, Richard, of Cottage Grove, MN, Kim Pohlmann & husband, Bill, of Grey Eagle, MN; 14 grandchildren; sister, Edith Gamradt of Sauk Centre, MN; sister-in-law, Marlys Kircher of Burtrum, MN; many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard & Vera (McDougal) Farrow; brothers, Floyd, Clyde & Robert Farrow; sisters, Lillian and Alvina Gamradt.
