Russell L. Kay

Russell L. Kay, 81 year old resident of Little Falls, MN passed away Sunday, May 22 at Diamond Willow in Little Falls MN.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at 12:00 PM at Emblom Brenny Funeral Service in Little Falls with Fr. Joe Herzing officiating. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service on Thursday also at the Emblom Brenny Funeral Service.



Russell was born on June 3, 1934 in Fort Ripley Township, MN to Lowell and Minerva (Butrum) Kay. At age 12, he moved to Indiana. He joined the US Army where he served from 1957-1963. Russell worked various jobs and owned and operated three different taverns while living in Indiana. He operated them until he retired in 1975. He returned to Minnesota in 1979. Russells hobbies included carpentry, hunting, fishing, reading, camping, gardening, training horses, and hobby farming. He also enjoyed soup parties and spending time with his friends. Russell liked to tease and be teased. His favorite comment when leaving was Glad you got to see me.

Russell is survived by his companion of 39 years, Angeline Kempenich of Little Falls; son, Bradley of Indiana; step-children, Anthony (Charlene) Kempenich of Freedhem, Robert (Mary) Kempenich of Little Falls, Bonnie (special friend, Steve) Jutz of Little Falls, Gladys (William) Freudenrich of Arizona, Shawn (Joan) Kempenich of Little Falls; brother, Ivan of Mooresville, IN; 14 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren.

He waspreceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Daniel Jutz and a grandchild, Bobby Kempenich.
