Sister Mary Beata (Dorothy) Lorsung, 93, died on October 11, 2007, at St. Francis Convent, Little Falls, Minn. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Francis Convent on Monday, October 15, at 11 a.m. Friends may call at St. Francis Convent on Sunday, October 14 from 4 - 8 p.m., and from 8:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral on Monday, October 15. A wake service will be held at the Convent at 7 p.m. on Sunday, October 14 . Sister Mary Beata was born on June 28, 1914, in Brandon, Minn. She was the sixth of eight children born to the late Joseph and Mary (Butala) Lorsung. She was accepted as a Franciscan Sister of Little Falls, Minnesota, on August 12, 1935. She made her first profession of vows on August 12, 1937, and final vows on August 12, 1940. She was a Franciscan Sister for 72 years. Sister Beata ministered in education and pastoral ministry. She taught at St. Francis High School, 1940-1972 and researched/wrote the history of the Franciscan Sisters. She served in Little Falls, Fergus Falls, Morris, White Bear Lake, Flensburg, St. Cloud, Minnesota; South Milwaukee, Wis. and Tucson, Ariz. Sister Beata was preceded in death by siblings: Elsie Kapphahn, Adeline Finnin, Walter, James, Irene Raddatz and Helen Hoffman. Survivors include her sister, Florence McClintock, Alexandria; nieces and nephews, and her Franciscan Community. Donations to Franciscan Sisters Ministries preferred.
