Stan the Man! Professional storyteller. Man of many jokes.

Stan was born December 6, 1939 in Little Falls at St. Gabriel's Hospital to Stanley Wielinski Sr. and Cecelia “Celia” (Richter). He grew up in Little Falls with his two younger brothers, Tom and Ken. After graduating from Little Falls High School, he attended St. Cloud State College, where he competed on the bowling team at nationals. He received a Bachelor’s degree in Speech, with a minor in English and Psychology.

Stan was united in marriage to Dolores "Dee" May on August 17, 1963 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Little Falls. He taught for a brief time in Renville, then moved to Perham in 1965, where the couple lived and raised their four daughters. Stan was a fierce protector of his daughters and gave them a great foundation for life. He taught them to always stand up for what is right.

Stan taught English, speech, and drama and directed over 200 one-act, class, and all-school plays and coaching and judging student speech competitions. He has been a friend and mentor to many. Stan’s commitment to education extended beyond students. He served on numerous boards including Community Action, Minnesota Education Association (MEA) and National Education Association, and served as a negotiator for the teachers’ union. He also volunteered as a police reservist, and was a chaperone and squad leader for the Barrel of Fun Chipettes parade unit. After retiring in 1998, the couple returned to Little Falls, where he continued his involvement in education as a substitute teacher for Royalton and Mary of Lourdes schools (once even as acting principal), directing plays, and teaching homebound students.

Stan enjoyed reading, biking, traveling, baking, and singing with Legacy Chorale, in church choirs, and at many weddings and funerals. Stan’s faith, family, students, and communities were integral parts of his life. He was involved in the Lion’s Club, Knights of Columbus, Morrison County Historical Society, CM TEC, Polish Echos, increasing bike paths in the Little Falls area, and Little Falls Care Center Board (and Lutheran Home), to name a few.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Dolores of Little Falls; daughters, Kimberly Wielinski of Roseville, Monica Wielinski (Larry Brennan) of Blaine, Paula (Jim) Schuebel of Lino Lakes and Mary (James) Bolton of Eagan; grandchildren, Ben and Eleanor; step-grandchildren, Alex, Bailey and Tony; great-grandchildren, Taitum, Tegan, Waylon, Cheyenne, Willy and Evee; brothers, Thomas Wielinski of Little Canada and Kenneth (Donna) Wielinski of Grand Marais; numerous nieces, nephews, and countless friends.

Stan was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law John and Margaret May; sister-in-law Glenda Wielinski and nephew, David Wielinski. May they all be rejoicing in heaven.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lakeland PBS or the Charles A. Weyerhaeuser Memorial Museum. There will also be a used eyeglasses donation box available at the visitation to go to the Lions Club Vision Foundation.
