Tillie Thomas

Tillie Thomas, 99 year old resident of Hillman, MN, died Monday, June 27 at the Pierz Villa Nursing Home. A funeral service will be held on Friday, July1 at 2:00 P.M. at Lakeview Community Church in Hillman, MN. The burial will be held at Lakeview Community Church Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 P.M. on Friday at the church.

Tillie Thomas was born September 29, 1916 in Buckman, MN to the late Edward and Magdalena (Brausen) Vogtlin. Tillie worked various jobs as a young woman. She was united in marriage to Robert Thomas on December 27, 1937 in Little Falls, MN. The couple farmed in Morrison County, near Hillman all their married lives. She loved to garden and had the best flower garden around. Tillie enjoyed ice fishing and salmon fishing on Lake Michigan.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Chester (Ruth Anne) Thomas of Osage, MN, John (Louise) Thomas of Hillman, MN, Sharon (Chuck) Benson of Onamia, MN, Betty ( and the late John Strait, Jr.), Vicki (Douglas) Sullivan, both of Hillman, MN; sister, Isabel Geary of Pine River, MN; 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob; daughter, Donna Olson; son-in-law, Lawrence Olson; grandson, Kevin Thomas; granddaughters, Michele Thomas Olson and Sheila Benson.
