Victor Langer, 98 year old resident of Pierz, passed away on Sunday, August 23 at the Pierz Villa Nursing Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, September 1st at 11:00 AM at St. Johns Nepomuk Catholic Church in Lastrup with Father Aaron Nett officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 31 from 4:00-7:00 P.M. and from 9:00 A.M. until 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, September 1. All visitation times will be held at Emblom Brenny Funeral Service in Pierz. The burial will be held in the parish cemetery.
Victor Langer was born on August 4, 1928, East of Lastrup in Granite Township, Morrison County, Minnesota to the late Aloysius and Mary (Kapsner) Langer. He attended country school in Granite Township until the eighth grade. He worked various jobs until he was drafted into the United States Army and was honorably discharged. He returned home and began farming. He met Doris Meyer at a dance and was united in marriage to Doris on September 3, 1953 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Pierz. The couple made their home and farmed in Granite Township, Morrison County four miles east of Lastrup. They were blessed with 11 children, David, Hildegard, Donald, Kevin, Roger, Ron, Richard, Helen, Lucy, Rosie and Allen. The couple were faithful members of St. John's Nepomuk Catholic Church. Victor also sang in the choir for several years. He enjoyed reading his Bible daily, gardening, singing, playing ball on Sunday afternoons with his kids, attending Victory League baseball games with his family, playing cards especially 500, cribbage and smear.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, David Langer of Hillman, Hilde (Mark) Flicker of Pierz, Kevin Langer of Little Falls, MN, Roger (Shelly) Langer of Pequot Lakes, MN, Ron Langer of Little Falls, MN, Richard Langer of Little Falls, MN, Helen Koenig of Little Falls, MN, Rosie Kowalzek (Wade Bayer, fiancé) of Fort Ripley, MN, Allan Langer of Little Falls, son-in-law Mark Hanson of Pierz; 21 grandchildren, 7 step-grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren with one on the way and 8 step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Doris Langer; son, Donald Langer; daughter, Lucy Hanson; daughter-in-law, Carol Langer; siblings, Benedict Langer, Laura Stangl, Edward Langer, Reine Langer, Wilfred Langer, Tony Langer and Regina Derfler.
