Violet A. Wotzka, age 83 of Little Falls, MN passed away Thursday, October 11, 2007 at St. Gabriel's Hospital in Little Falls, MN. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, October 15th, at 11:30 A.M. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Little Falls with Father Mark Innocenti officiating. Interment will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery north of Little Falls. Friends may call from 10:00 A.M. - 11:00 A.M. Monday at the Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service (West Chapel) in Little Falls. Violet A. Wotzka was born, June 17, 1924 in Flensburg, Morrison County, MN to the late Martin A. & Julia M. (Kotch) Super. She grew up in Flensburg, MN. She attended and graduated from Little Falls High School. Following high school, Violet worked in Minneapolis. On June 17, 1944, she left for "boot camp" at Hunter College in Bronx, New York. Her first assignment was in Bethesda, Maryland, where she completed her Hospital Corps School. Violet went on to the Great Lakes Naval Center Hospital where she received her Pharmacists Mate rating. She was later shipped to the US Naval Training and Distribution Center of Shoemaker, California and was discharged on July 26, 1945. Violet came from a military family. Her father served as "dough-boy" in WWI and her three brothers served in WWII. After returning home, Violet attended St. Cloud State College receiving her degree in Elementary Education. She was united in marriage to Florian Wotzka in 1951. The couple made their home in Little Falls. Florian died March 4, 2003. Following her husband's death, Violet moved to the Alverna Apartment in Little Falls residing there until her death. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Little Falls, Little Falls American Legion Post #46, Little Falls V.F.W. Post #1112, DAV Auxiliary, charter member of the WAVES National and the St. Cloud Chapter (for Navy and Marine Women Veterans), which was chartered on October 28, 1995 at the VAMC in St. Cloud, Women of the Military and Women's Aglow. Violet enjoyed reading, sewing, gardening, canning, playing cards, watching ball games, visiting with her grandchildren and she loved giving perms to her sister, Joyce. Violet is survived by her daughters, Julie Zylka & husband, Ken, of Cushing, MN, Mary Zahn & husband, Dennis, of Vadnais Heights, MN, Paula Seelen & husbnad, Jim, of Cushing, MN, Becky Wotzka & companion, Rick Mausolf, of Brainerd, MN and Laurie Marvin of Little Falls, MN; sisters, Adrienne Wozniak of St. Paul, MN and Joyce Leidenfrost & husband, Ken, of Little Falls, MN; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Florian; parents and brothers, Daniel, E.J.and Linus Super.
