Edward Schwitalla

Edward J. Schwitalla was born October 5, 1908 in St. Cloud, MN to the late William and Catherine (Roske) Schwitalla. He was baptized October 11, 1908 at St. John Cantius in St. Cloud, MN. He grew up in St. Cloud, MN and worked at the Stone Shed. He was united in marriage to Anna Wochnick on June 12, 1934 at St. John's Cantius Church in St. Cloud. MN. On June 9, 1943 he enlisted in the United States Navy and did his boot camp at Perry Virginia. During his military service he served his country in Maui, Hawaii, Mindanao Island, Philippines serving with the 109th Navy Construction Battalion. He was honorably discharged November 13, 1945. The couple lived in St. Cloud, MN after Edward served his country. In the early 1950's, the couple moved to Bell Gardens, CA, were he worked for ALCOA Aluminum retiring to Minnesota in the early 1970's. Anna passed away on August 9, 1983. Edward was united in marriage to Sophia Cramen at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Sobieski, MN on July 13, 1985. The couple lived in Sobieski, MN for a few years before moving into Little Falls, MN. Edward was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Sobieski, MN, Little Falls Senior Center where he enjoyed making donuts and playing cards. Edward is survived by wife, Sophia of Little Falls, Minnesota; step-children, Donna Hagen of Prescott Valley, Arizona and Dalbert Cramen of Virginia Beach, Virginia; sister-in-law, Vernie Barber of New London, MN; several nieces, nephews, and other relative and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Anna Schwitalla on August 9, 1983; 8 brothers; 4 sisters. Honorary Casketbears: Andrew Oswald, Bruce Schwitalla, John Schwitalla, Jim Palmquist. Casketbearers: Alfred Sobiek, Mike Hanzilk, Richard Daniels, Roy Oswald, Art Altrichter, Larry Lahr.
