Jerome "Jerry" Gwost, 75 year old resident of Flensburg, MN died Tuesday, July 24 at his home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, July 28 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Flensburg, MN at 10:30 A.M. with Father Leo Moenkedick and Father Ron Dockendorf officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 PM on Friday, July 27 and from 9:30 AM until the hour of service on Saturday at the church. Parish Prayers will be held at 7:00 PM Friday evening at the church. Military Rites will be conducted by the Flensburg American Legion Post # 136. Jerry Gwost was born on July 2, 1932 in Sobieski, MN to the late Frank and Barbara Gwost. He served in the United States Navy from 1951 to 1955. He was united in marriage to Caroline Kulus on October 26, 1955 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Flensburg. He and his wife Caroline owned and operated Jerry's Service Station for 17 years in Flensburg. He was postmaster for 34 years in Flensburg and was in the Flensburg Fire Department for 37 years and a member of the American Legion Post #136. Jerry had a great love for old-time music and started playing the concertina at the age of 16 years. He played in various bands, the last being the Jolly Fisherman Band. Jerry enjoyed spending time with his children, family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Caroline of 51 years; son, John Gwost and special friend, Margurite Cofell; daughter, Debbie Witucki and husband, Roger; daughter-in-law, Jean Gwost; grandchildren, Jeremiah, Melissa and Jordan Witucki, Shannon, Nicole and Casey Gwost, Wyatt and Ashley Gwost and two great-grandchildren; brothers Richard Gwost and Gary Gwost and his wife, Diane. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Barbara Gwost; son, Wayne Gwost and brother, Harold Gwost. In Lieu of Flowers Memorials Preferred to the Morrison County Relay for Life.
