Arland G. "Brownie" Carlson, age 72 of Royalton, MN passed away Friday, August 3, 2007 at the St. Cloud Hospital. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday (August 7th) at 2:00 P.M. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Little Falls with the Rev. Nick Landsberger officiating. Interment will be in St. Adalbert's Catholic Cemetery in Little Falls. Friends may call from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Monday and Tuesday from 9:00 A.M.- 1:00 P.M. at the Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service (East Chapel) in Little Falls. Parish Prayers will be said at 5:00 P.M. Monday evening at the funeral chapel. Arland G. "Brownie" Carlson was born December 15, 1934 in Valley City, ND to the late Albert G. and Nelta (Menerva) Carlson. He grew up in Sanborn, ND where he attended and graduated from Sanborn High School with the Class of 1954. He served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957. He was united in marriage to Joan M. Schoessling in 1957. The couple lived in Chicago from 1961 to 1980 when they returned to Minnesota. Brownie became a Budweiser Wholesaler, establishing C & L Distributing of which he served as President and CEO, with present locations in Sauk Rapids, Baxter and Hutchinson, MN. C & L Distributing began in the early years in Royalton, MN. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Belle Prairie, MN, Sauk Rapids Lions Club, National Beer Wholesalers Association and the Minnesota Beer Wholesalers Association. Brownie is survived by his wife, Joan; son & daughters, Steven Carlson of Brooklyn Park, MN, Cindy Lipschultz & husband, Kent, of Wyoming, MN, Jennifer Smith & husband, Steven, of North Brook, IL, Josephine Crawford & husband, Francis, of St. Cloud, MN; Personal Manager, Bernadette Perryman of Clear Lake, MN, one brother, four sisters and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and three sisters. Casketbearers are Steven Carlson, Steven Smith, Francis Crawford, Keith Ulrick, Kent Lipschultz, Spencer Smith, Cory Lipschultz. In lieu of flowers please make memorials to the American Cancer Society.
