John was my step-uncle, and he was a really good guy - I hadn't seen him for probably 25 years, maybe more, but I'll miss him all the same. My condolences to his children, Doris, and Ray.

75 years of excellent friendship. We were in grade school together, grew up together, deer hunted together, speared fish together, and even had time for a small party. Many memories that will never be forgotten. Johnny was an excellent man and friend, and he will be missed.
I am very sorry to hear of uncle John's passing. My heartfelt condolences to Angie and her brothers and the rest of the Hoppe family. Thinking about him brings me back and reminds me of my dad, Judd when they all lived in S. Mpls. I have old pictures of them at Christmas having a lot of laughs together and playing a little poker too.
RIP Uncle John 🙏💜

Prayers to his family and friends
Deepest sympathy to the Hoppe family
Cousin Johnny was the most sincere, honest and genuinely decent human being I have had the privilege of knowing. Always had a good word and never ever a swear or cuss word. I remember John while growing up when we would go fishing on Round Lake and then meeting him at Hoppe's Tap on Lake Street where he and my dad would pay me to play foosball, haha. He was a kind soul and will be missed by many, but he will be joining his love in life, Alice. RIP Big John
